I have vinyl or plastic raised panel shutters on my home. They are appox. 18 years old. They look faded. Forest Green is color. Is this fading possible. I thought they were quaranteed not to do this. Not sure though. Is it possible to paint them?

Rich :

Hello .. Rich here to help you this morning

Rich :

Yes fading is possible in strong colors like forest green

Rich :

yes they can be painted .. but use a paint designed for use on plastic

Rich :

I have seen such a paint in the big box building supply stores .. and used it on plastic lawn furniture it was a spray can type just be sure to read all the instructions about cleaning the shutters and stuff

Customer:

that sounds good

Customer:

what do you think inside or out sun or shade

Customer:

I have a compressor. what about a spray gun

Customer:

do they make that paint in cans?

Rich :

i am not sure about canned paint .. but i would guess , yes .. I like the spray cause it is smaller ans no clean-up .. and i seem to get a better spread

Rich :

inside outside .. depends on your weather . dry for a couple days outside OK .. large ventillated room OK inside

Rich :

you can check it out at a home depot type store near you \

Customer:

I was thinking with a spray gun it would cover quicker than a can and be cheaper

Rich :

yes i just do not have one or the space to use it . spraying would be better i think

Customer:

I noticed that several of the screw covers are missing. Are there replacements

Rich :

not sure that would depend on brand and age i woul check the store there is likely some replacement for these ... get them before painting though

Customer:

ok thanks for your help
