My DEN500P is not dehumidifying. The fan runs properly, but the compressor seems to “short cycle”. It operates for about 6seconds, then shuts down for 45 seconds or so, turns on for 6 seconds, off for 45…and so on. The copper tube leading from the compressor never seems to change temperature significantly. I have cleaned the filter (it was fairly dirty) and used a vacuum on the coils, which were clean except for the small area that is not filtered. That’s the problem – is there a fix or should I just replace the unit? Thanks in advance.Bill
Already Tried: I listed everything I've done in my question.
Hello, and thanks for your question! My name is XXXXXXX XXX I am happy to assist you today!!
Hi Bill, These units are almost concidered disposable these days as it costs more to fix them than to repair them. From the description you provided me with it sounds like it is low on refrigerant.
They run just as an A/C would run. When they get low on refrigerant they cycle on and off.
You will be looking at around $40 to fill it but who knows how much to repair the leak.
thanks for the info - I'll probably simply replace it
I would agree with that
