How can I repair a small hole in the side of an acrylic 2 person whirlpool bath
Already Tried: Just discovered the small hole..have tried nothing yet

The Home Depot sell a small repair kit for acrylic tub repair, in the plumbing section. (I worked there recently). And there are also several other acrylic type repair kits available in the paint department.
The one you want is made by a major tub manufacturer and is call acrylic gel coat tub repair kit. I think it was about 10 dollars for the kit and comes with detailed instructions.

This particular kit got really poor reviews and cannot alter color at all
This is for white only. If you have a colored tub it will be a visible repair. However , customers that have used this were favorable in my area. I have not used this because we have a tub repair company that is local that will come fix these type of holes for about 100 dollars. Check with a local Plumbing wholesale house such as Ferguson plumbing and ask them who they use for their tub repair. This would be your best bet for a good matching repair.
Our tub is acrylic not fiberglass...would that make a difference?
No, these companies can repair all types of tubs. The procedure may be slightly different but usually there is a top finish coat that is where the color repair is made. Fiberglass is the sub coat material on some tubs.
