Hello and welcome to Just Answer.

There are no differences in code requirements when you compare first floor to second floor. Any thing specific that you are concerned about?

If you need further help or clarification on this answer, please do not hesitate to reply to this post.

Thanks for replying.

I am more concerned about venting for the dryer. I have about 20 feet before the outside and some of the vent pipe will be inside the wall.

I have seen it in other applications, mainly condos which have to have it cleaned out every 2 years or so.

What are your thoughts on that?

Thanks,

Gerry

Hi gerry,
20 feet is long but it is acceptable by code. 25 feet is the maximum before you need to start doing additional things. I would recommend using hard metal round duct....not the flexible plastic or foil. The round duct is pretty smooth on the inside so lint build-up will be minimal.
