I am installing a pergo type floor in the basement however the exterior walls are not square. How do I determine square, one area is out as much as 1.5" another only 1/2"
HiCustomerbr />I assume you want to know if one corner is square in order to start your layout from there. Your best method is the 3,4,5 triangle method. A triangle with one leg of 3 (feet, yards meters it doesn't matter) the other leg of 4 and a hypotenuse of 5 would have a 90 degree (square) angle at its base. If you can extend the measurement to a multiple say 6,8,10 you increase the accuracy of the measurement. So pick a corner and measure a point 3' from the corner then 4' along the corresponding wall then measure diagonally connecting the 2 points if it's 5' (or pretty close) it's square.
If I do that where do I place the board. I have not found a square corner anywhere in the room, do I need to do the triangle in to or three areas and then snap a line?
If nothing is square then your best bet would be to get a full sheet of plywood an lay it in the corner you want to start from. Then scribe a square line off one corner using the sheet as a guide
