How do I repair cracks and a hole in an acrylic bathtub.

Customer Question

How do I repair cracks and a hole in an acrylic bathtub. There are two problems. There is a gap under the tub that has led to the cracks (from standing in the tub while in the shower) and this needs to be filled ( I thought I might be able to use a fluid exoxy based grouting sealnt?). Two the cracks in the acrylic tub need to be sealed/ reenforcedwith a bonding compoud (what should I use?)

Hello,
There are a couple of routes that you could take.
The most obvious and costly would be to replace the tub. The second would be to have the tub and surrounding area resurfaced with a complete new liner for walls and tub. Can usually be done in a day.
The third is to use a repair kit. These are two good kits available, Plast-Aid which is a two part acrylic and pvc repair, available from www.spadepot.com and the code # XXXXX XXXXX The second repair kit is from,
www.bathwizards.com/ 1-800-498-7093.
Two resurfacing companies are, www.permaglaze.com/
and surfacespecialties.com 1-866-239-8707
