Only if you want hot water.

Greetings:

It depends on what's wrong with it and the age of the heater.

You may wish to find a service person to come out - perhaps giving you a free estimate. Then you should compare the cost of repairing or purchasing new...whatever is more practical - if repaired, how long will it last -would it be worth it? Or would it be better to buy a new one - especially with warranty? This can be decided upon once you have a service person come out.

Bright Blessings.

The only problem with having a service person come out to look at it is that the cost to have him/her come out may be half of what a water heater costs. Most gas hot water heaters can be had for a couple of hundred dollars. If you can install it yourself that's all it will cost you.
