An annual servicing is typical, though many people skip a
year or two. The key factor is what kind of soil surrounds
your leach field. If you have poor drainage, then your leach
field needs all the help it can get, and removing the sludge
annually, before it has a chance to enter the leach field, is a
good way to preserve the life of the field.

Reply to Nick Sparks's Post: What is the average cost of an annual service and what do they do? Is a service when they empty the tank? and if not what does it cost to empty?

Thanks

I don't know what the service fees are but I am offering you this free answer to help you. The cleaning involves draining the tanks. You can't drain the fields. Also, one of the things you look for is saturated ground over the leach field. If it feels "squishy" then you may have a problem.

Hoped this helped :)
