Customer Question

I had protected anal and vaginal sex (insertive) with someone whose HIV status is unknown. Event was 10 days ago. I am certain that the condom did not fail. What do you recommend I do with regards ***** ***** or not - and when - to get tested?

Hello

All active adults should be tested for HIV once a year.

If you are concerned, get an elisa test in 3 months since exposure.

This is very low risk.

OK, so that is an initial answer….

Can you provide a little more detail on why the risk is very low? Also, is there a test I can get within a 10 day window period?

with protected sex, probably less than 1% of any risk

For screening, early testing is not reliable.

You can get a PCR test at 3 weeks, which is accurate , but not the gold standard that is elisa.
