If you have fuel dilution of the engine crankcase oil, you will have lost an injector, causing over fueling, leading to excessive white smoke.
If your exhaust pipe shows oil slobber, you more than likely have lost a turbo (common problem on these engines) or have lost a cylinder.
I would suspect that you have lost the turbo, if the engine is still running smooth other than the smoke issue.
