I have a 580k Case Backhoe with about 300hrs on a drop in rebuilt engine also it has a rebuilt injection pump put on it at the same time Lucas cav the problem is when it is first started it idle's at about 300rpm's and when it warms up it die's out I was going to adjust the screws by the throttle shaft on the injection pump but when I googled it it said I shouldn't do that so I would like to know the proper way or if it's something else
Optional Information: Make: Case Model: 580 super K Year: 1992 Engine: Cummins 4b-390 Already Tried: Researching it online
Welcome to JUST ANSWER heavy equipment. With years of experience, I look forward to doing my best to help.
You can adjust the external idle screw, it is nothing but a throttle stop. Will not affect anything else.
You do not want to adjust any screw that goes into the pump!
Thank you.

Ocordiing to the research I just got off google the pump should automatically idle at 800rpms even if the throttle shaft is completely disconnected so I'll ask again is this the proper way to adjust the Lucas CAV or is there something else wrong
This engine does not have auto idle . Maybe on later models, but not on this model. The external lever has a stop screw for the throttle doesn't it? I will stand by my answer.
I see your second question, I will remove it and you can converse here if you like.
