i am having power problems and pulling power. any suggestions on how i can get power
There are several things that can cause low power on these engines.
What all has been checked?
Has it always had low power, or did it just start all of a sudden?
it has alway been like this since i have had the truck,
I see. Thanks for the information.
There are several things that can cause low power. The first two that come to mind is low fuel pressure and low boost caused by a leak in the air to air cooler.
Your engine should maintain a pressure between 75 and 90 psi at all times. If it drops below 75, the engine will have low power. There is a plug on the fuel filter housing you can use to check pressure. If it is low, I would suspect a failed fuel pressure regulator. I see this a lot. The regulator is located underneath the filter housing. IT is about a 1 inch looking plug. If the regulator is OK. I would next suspect a weak transfer pump.
If the fuel pressure is OK. I would next suspect there is a leak in the air cooler of the engine. I see this a lot as well. To verify, you will need to pressure test it. You can cap off one side and put 30 psi on the cooler and then spray with soapy water. If there is a leak, you will see it.

Dear customer. Thank you so much for using Just answer. It has been a pleasure serving you. However I noticed that you have not given me a rating on my answer. If you are still in need of help, please, please, reply back to me. I am very happy to help.
The reason I am sending this note to you is because Just Answer has made some changes to the website recently and we have learned that some great customers like yourself have experienced some "bugs" in the system and the screen does not show you how or where to rate the answer you were given.
If this has happened to you, please place the curser over the bottom of an otherwise invisible rating box and then the choices will appear. Its a little tricky because the Smiley faces are invisible until you place you curser over this lower region and move the curser until you find where these choices light up for you. Positive ratings are the only way I receive credit for the answer.
Thanks again so much for using Just Answer. It is my pleasure to serve you. We are very sorry for any confusion the bugs in the system may have caused you. Have a great day!
