The ISL g engines run on either cng or lng. Is the torque approximately the same and can a truck run on either, or only one of the two? Victor xxxxx

Hello and welcome to Just Answer! I would be more than happy to assist you today. The ISL g uses a CNG or LPG fuel only and the rating of the engine depends on the application and the ECM calibration. They are not meant to run on either.

Customer replied 288 days and 13 hours ago.

IS the torque the same, assuming The gas has the same BTU rating.

Customer replied 288 days and 13 hours ago.

is the torque the same assuming the gas has the same BTU before being compressed or liquified. You indicate that the engines have a different fuel injection. Do you have specific knowledge of natural gas as a fuel, or do you suggest that I call Cummins?

LPG is composed primarily of propane and butane, while natural gas is composed of the lighter methane and ethane. LPG, vaporised and at atmospheric pressure, which means that LPG cannot simply be substituted for natural gas. In order to allow the use of the same burner controls and to provide for similar combustion characteristics, LPG can be mixed with air to produce a synthetic natural gas (SNG) that can be easily substituted. LPG/air mixing ratios average 60/40, though this is widely variable based on the gases making up the LPG Call cummins for specific ratings for your application since this is all stored in a data base in sales dept.

Your answer was about LPG, my question was about natural gas (methane) which is used as a fuel either compressed (CNG) or liquified (LNG). You are trying to answer questions on subjects you do not understand. So I will answer. Sorry!

The ISLg engine is for methane with a rating of 75 or higher. They may offer an ISLb or c for propane or butane, but my question was only about the ISLg. If "Just ask" will charge me anyway even if you could not answer my question, then they are wrong. But does that make it right for you? Cummins Westport can answer the questions if you want to be able to answer in the future.

,If you can answer my questions correctly, do so now, and I will change my answer to JUST Ask. But as of now, I am NOT satisfied.

Hi I'm Wayne,
I will help you with this,
good afternoon,

Your best bet is to Talk to a Cummins Engineer, this is a high detailed Question,
Reason being, the difference in , different injectors, pump timing
and possible different pistons, I am not sure on the pistons
We do not want Customers to leave dis satisfied, but we are strong enough
to admit when we can not answer a Question, we strive for a 100% , but at times
we just don't have the answer
We want to keep your business, in the future
