Customer Question

Hi, when my engine is @ 150 temp or less gives the code 385-1 but not for long just to the temp rise up to180, the mess on the screen is,, Intake act oil press lo,, i suppose to be only a sensor, could be something else ?
Sometimes when the engine running idle (rpm700) the rpm falls to 500 about 2 sec then is back, and sometimes is running noisy at 650. Peterbilt, year 2008, model 387, engine Cat C13 acert LEE, vehicle id (last six digits) 769001, what i should ask to the parts store if i want to change it by my self? Thanks

Hi. Thanks for using JA! I will try and help you out.

I have seen this code many times before. You most likely have a faulty intake actuation pressure sensor. I have replaced many of these. I would check the wiring at the sensor first to make sure it is ok. The sensor is under the valve cover near the front of the engine. The sensor has three wires.

Please let me know if you need more help or have more questions.

Does the check engine light come on when the rpm's fall?

Customer replied 334 days and 20 hours ago.

no is just for 1-2 seconds

I see. Thanks for the information.

Since the light does not come on, I would suspect low fuel pressure. Your engine should maintain a pressure between 75 and 90 psi. If it is low, the rpm's can drop. There is a fitting on the filter housing you can use to check pressure.
