how do I drain the chain tanks on a 1840 case skid steer uniloader, where is the drain plugs and what kind of oil do I replace it with there are two tanks on each side.

A SAE 30 power train oil or even an 80W/90 hypoid gear oil would be OK . However, depending on your climate, you should run a lighter oil in colder climates. There is usually a chart for reference on the operators manual on what is recommended for your climate and the refill capacities.

With years of experience, I look forward to doing my best to help. http://www.casece.com/wps/portal/casece/partscatalogtutorial?brandsite_brand=CaseCE&brandsite_language=en&brandsite_geo=NA Under the 1840 model , look at the Chassis, you will find the drain plugs are a the rear corner of the unit, on both sides. There is also a plug between the tires, but best is the rear drains.
