Hi I have a 2007 Hino Ranger Pro 6wheel 6 speed auto (Allison tranmission) that is limited 90kmph the engine will red line 1 through to 4 (2900rpm)but in 5th will only rev to 2500 (90kmph) i have been informed that 6 has been programed out as the motor can not (not powerfull enough) maintain highway speed when fully loaded so 6th is programed out, how do i get the truck to do 100kmph as we use it for long distance deliveries.
Optional Information: Make: Hino Model: Ranger Year: 2007 Already Tried: Taken to a tramsmition specialist
Hello and thanks for using Just Answer,my name is XXXXX XXXXX X would like to help you with your question. If the transmission in your truck is the 6 speed Allison WT 3000 series, with a push button shift selector. Programming to 6 spd will ultimately need final approval form Hino, this is due to the fact the drive line speed will increase when this is done, and the driveshafts and u-joints need to be able to handle the increased speed."So before any Allison dealer will up the program to 6 speed, a letter from Hino stating that your VIN can safely be programmed to 6 speed will be required". The only other option is to change the differential ratio to change the final drive to more of a highway gear, "But I would not recommend doing this", Many times the start ability "The initial acceleration from a stop, can be negatively effected".I hope this information helps, let me know if you have any further questionsBillI hope this information helps
Thank you BillI have spoken to Hino Aust and I am informed there is a problem with harminic (i belive drive shaft critical speed) it has been sejested I get the drive shaft looked at by a expert who may be able to rectfy the problem.
That is going to be your problem,if Hino states the drive line harmonics will be out of spec with a 6 speed you will not be able to obtain an approval letter from them and they will be the only people Allison will accept an approval from. Even if another drive line expert completely rebuilds the drive line Allison would only release a new calibration for you with a letter from Hino.Sorry for the bad newsBill

Hi BillI have spoken to Hino Aust thay are sending me all the info and all the requirments I am hopfull I can sort out this problem as we purshased the truck in good faith only to find out that it not sutable for the job.One would think that in a large country as Austrailia were long distance are traveled Hinio would have releiced a truck that is capable of traveling at excepted highway speeds.Having sead that I will not be spending much $$ unless i can get all the approvels.Thank you for all you help any more info would be apperchated.
The reason Allison wont release the program to 6 pd without a letter on Hino letter head,is the liability reasons. Your Allison dealer may be willing to do the upgrade but without the letter Allison wont release the program to us.Bill
I am speeking with 2 expert tec in Hino Aust head office so i will not prosed with out there approvel
Good, I dont want you to waste any money!Bill
