we have a JD 3020 diesel is getting into Motor oil or in the crankcase not a whole lot but a little you can smell it the oil it also idles real fast than slows down can the two things be related where should we start to look im not familiar with this tractor

Yes they can be related, but lucky for you this is a very simple fuel system and it is easy to diagnose problems. I would start by un-bolting the fuel transfer pump and check to see if fuel is leaking into the oil pan from it. Next up is the injection pump. If the transfer pump checks out ok then that is the only other thing it can be, unless it is over fueling the engine a ton but it would smoke allot and have poor performance. Hope this helps
