C15: my truck..3 fault codes when I do a diagnostic:47, 94, and 58

This answer was rated:

Hello. I am a company driver and my truck has a Cat C15 engine... it is displaying 3 fault codes when I do a diagnostic:

47, 94, and 58. Could you please tell me what these codes are? Thanks

Hi. Thanks for using JA! I will try and help you out.

Could you get me your engine serial number please?

Since it is an 2007 I mainly need to know if the engine is an emissions engine with a DPF or a pre emissions engine without a DPF.

Thanks!

It is a little faded but it looks like the serial number is XXXXX And my apologies, it is a C13 not a 15

No problem and thanks for the information.

Code 47 is an "Idle Shutdown Occurrence" fault

Code 58 is J1939 "Data Incorrect" fault

Code 94 is "Intake Valve Actuator" fault

I see codes 47 and 58 fairly regularly. They do not cause much cause for concern. However, code 94 will cause the engine to possibly derate and lose power.

I will be going to our main terminal tomorrow... could they fix a code 94 or does this need to go to a CAT dealer? Is it a long repair?

They should be able to. Code 94 is a problem with the Intake Valve Actuator Solenoid on either cylinder number 5 or 6. (Code 94 only indicates one or the other)

Your engine most likely needs to have the IVA solenoids replaced on the engine. It does not take long to do.
