Here is what to check
DTC P1227, Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) SENSOR
Procedure for confirmation of DTC
Switch off ignition and wait for 10 seconds.
At idle the battery voltage should be more than 10V.
With Consult II Without Consult II
Switch on ignition. Start and idle engine for 1 second.
Choose Data Monitor mode. Switch off ignition, wait for 10 seconds and switch on again
Start and idle engine for 1 second. With ECM conduct Diag Test Mode II, Self Diag Results.
DTC > Diagnostic Procedure. DTC > Diagnostic Procedure.
Remember when measuring the input or output voltage,
the ECM ground terminals are not to be used.
Procedure for diagnosis
Check the following:-
Screws
Switch off ignition.
Slacken and tighten the bodt ground screws.
Power Supply Circuit to APP Sensor 2
Disconnect the harness connector to the APP sensor.
Switch on ignition.
Between APP sensor terminal 5 and ground, check voltage (approx 5V)
OK: skip the next step. NG: proceed to the next step.
Find the malfunction, check
In Dutro models harness connectors M71, M201.
harness connectors M1, E101.
For open/short in harness between ECM and APP sensor.
Repair open/short to ground/power in harness/connectors.
For open & short in the APP Sensor 2 Ground Circuit
Disconnect the harness connector to the ECM.
Between ECM terminal 83 and APP sensor terminal 1, check harness continuity.
There should be continuity.
For short to ground and power, check harness.
For open & short in the APP Sensor 2 Input Signal Circuit
Between ECM terminal 98 and APP sensor terminal 6, check harness continuity.
OK: skip the next step. NG: proceed to check APP sensor.
In Duter models harness connectors M71, M201.
Repair open/short to ground/power in harness/connectors
The component - APP Sensor
OK: check Intermittent Incident. NG: replace APP Sensor.
Inspection of the component: Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor
Connect all the harness connectors.
Between ECM terminal 106 sensor 1 signal and engine ground
terminal 98 sensor 2 signal and engine ground
check voltage as follows:
Terminal Accelerator pedal Voltage
106APP Sensor 1 Fully released 0.6 - 0.9V
Fully depressed 3.9 - 4.7V
98 APP Sensor 2 Fully released 0.3 - 0.6V
Fully depressed 1.95 - 2.4V
IF not good then replace the accelerator pedal assembly switch .
I have seen more of the APP sensor be the problem your having.
Let me know if i can help more!
