Customer Question

my komatsu d31p bulldozer with a 6D95L motor has low oil pressure problems. Have reconditioned crankshaft and bearings but oil pressure fails after about 1000 hours. Have replaced oil pump. Everything looks fine. Have had the motor out three times now. Can you suggest a remedy?

I'm Wayne,
I will try to help you with this,

Have you replaced the Cam Bearings, Big Area to loose oil pressure.
You just rebuild the bottom end ??

Get back to me. Cool

Customer replied 1151 days and 18 hours ago.

Have removed the cam shaft. The bearings appear badly worn (brass showing) and sending engine block to be checked for distortion and measured.

Just wondering where we are with this ??

Let me know,

Thanks, Wayne

Customer replied 1147 days and 17 hours ago.

we have had an expert measure the cam bearings and cam for wear and found that they are well within tolerance. Have heard that this engine can have oil pump problems. What do you know about this? The oil pump is an integral part of the engine block.

thanks

Marty

Hi Marty,
Sorry for the long delay, but I was researching, and made a couple calls, to friends,
Nothing about problems with oil pump, only thing one guy had mention, was if it was the correct gasket and thickness, on mounting .

But they all had to agree, if your cam bearings, show wear to the brass, Even though it's in spec's., your going to loose pressure there.

Thanks, WayneCool
