Kenworth T2000 brake light from pedal not working. Flashers and turn signals work. fuses look good. year 2000
Optional Information: 2000 Kenworth T2000 cummings Already Tried: I have replaced the lights on the tractor. only brake fuse I can find is the 40 anp it is good. The 4-way flashers work. the turn signals work. The brake lights do come on with the trailer brake handle. I was hoping I could avoid tearing the panels off to get to the rake pedal wiring. can not find a wiring diagram on line.
hi there my name is XXXXX XXXXX will try to help you with this have you check the pressure switch under the hood on the treddle valve
Hi Don
No I have not. The only wires I saw was the wires for the horn and they were not connected. there is also a black plastic hose with #2 on it that is not connected to anything. This is a truck I just bought so I am finding things as I go. Bu the way all the fuses for the ABS were pulled. when I put them back the ABS light come on and stays on. I also found a wire cut that is going into the rear wheel hub on the right side. There are two small wires that I spliced together.
hi there holy cow you have a wiring night mare there but first things firstunder the hood on the treddle valve you will see two pressure sensors one is for the truck air pressure and the other is for the brake lights check power to that the reason that the abs fuses were pulled was because of what you are saying the light comes on this is caused by 1. a broken wheel sensor wire whichyou are saying is going into the one wheel the other is the wheel sensor its self not making contact with the hub it is either moved avay from it or the fins on the hub where the sensor picks up the signal is clogged up the sensors are magnetic pick ups and the surface has to be free and clear of dirt and debris the little black hose has probably pulled out of a guage or something likethat and most probably done when someone was into the dash you will have to open it up to see where it goes is there air escaping from it when you run the truck or put the brakes on block the wheels and release the brakes turn the truck off and operated all the air switches in the cab including the diff lock,5th wheel slider and so on does this help don

hi there have to go to town be back ina couple of hours try what i suggested and let me know don
Don Should the pressure switch be normally open or closed? I have +12 on one wire and 0 on the other when I push the brake no lights when I touch the two wires I have brake lights. The switch is under the dash in the worse spot to reach. I tried to find a new one but everything in town is closed.
How do I test to see if it is an air problem before the switch or electrical in the switch?
Thanks
OK
Let me know when you can Thanks for the help
hi there you have 0 volyage on the switch when you push the brakes
one side +12 other side zero
then it is that switch you can howevr take the other one out and switch them they should be identicalit should be normally open switch
the other one didn't have 12 volts on either wire and had different connectors.
should there be no pressure to the switch when the brake is pressed ??
these are the switches on the treddle valve you are refering to right ?
hi there if you put a jumper wire from the one that has power to the other side do the brake lights come on ?
when you press the brakes it supplys pressure to the valve
I think so I don't know what a treddle valve is . what I have removed is a Meitor Wabco XXXXXXXXXX the one switch has wires going to it that say brake switch and the other switch has wires that say service brake. they are on either end of a fitting that has hose going to it. Like I said it is at a spot under the dash that is hard to see and reach. It is right by the brake linkage there are no electrical parts or wires on the under hood side. The wires with brake switch one is 12 volt the other is zero. on the wires labeled service brake one has +4.7 volts the other zero.
yes when I put the two brake switch wires together the brake lights come on
hi there sorry the treddle valve is also called the foot valve it has several ports and is connected to the brake peddle cool then it is that switch you will have to put a new one in then your p[roblem will be solved the switch is about 15.00 don
Thanks Don
my pleasure sir if you continue having problems just contact me through this post and i will help you and it will not cost you any more alos when you are ready to get help with the abs let me know would you please leave me written feedback as well thanks and have a great day don
I wrote down the part number for monday to get the part but put it all back together for now and it works. The best I can figure is that one of the plastic nuts that held the wires on the switch was stripped and didn't tighten down. I put a steel nut on and it works.
Thanks again for the help!!
