Injection pump timing is adjusted using shims under pump. To check pump timing: Disconnect the number #1 high pressure line from injection pump, then unscrew delivery valve holder on the #1 and remove valve spring and holder. Reinstall valve holder and connect a spill pipe or hose (bend down pipe or hose) to the holder. Move throttle control to full open position. Rotate engine flywheel slowly in normal rotation until fuel just stops flowing from spill pipe or hose. Biginning of injection occurs at this point. If timming is correct, "F1" mark on flywheel should be aligned with timming mark "M" on cylinder block rear plate.
