Ask a Heavy Equipment Repair Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hi johndeere 1979. I'm not familiar with this particular model but I can give you a few things to check as it sounds like you know what you're doing. PLEASE don't accept my answer until/unless it solves your problem...
You have narrowed the problem down already to the start circuit before the solenoid. Next you'll want to check any safety interlocks such as your PTO switch and your neutral switch. If need be, bypass the switch temporarily to see if that's whats causing the problem. Another possibility, obviously, is the key switch (best tested with a mulimeter or test light if that's what's available.) Other thatn that, there may be an inline fuse or a worn wire, best tested via continuity test from the keyswitch to the starter solenoid. Let me know if this helps! Thanks - JD
