Thanks for the follow-up.
I understand your concern.
As per your description,I would advise to see a doctor at ER as possible differential diagnosis may include Meningitis,Cervical spondylosis,Viral gastroenteritis.

His blood pressure should be monitored as well.

Also he may require IV fluids if he is not eating well and very lethargic.

You can start gatorade in the meantime.

And give him tylenol and warm compresses on back of neck.

Also do gentle massage with topical diclofenac sodium ointment on back of neck.

How is could he have gotten viral meningitis? We haven't been around anyone with it?
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I drank after him! Shouldn't I be concerned for me?
Expert:  Onlinedoc replied 2 months ago.

Viral meningitis is the most common type, but it’s not usually life-threatening.

The enteroviruses that cause meningitis can spread through direct contact with saliva, nasal mucus, or feces. They easily spread through coughing and sneezing. Direct or indirect contact with an infected person increases risk of getting the same virus.

As per your description,my main concern is his lethargy, severe headache, not eating well which require an urgent medical attention.

He needs to be evaluated properly and get prompt treatment.

His vitals should be checked.

It can be possible that it's not viral meningitis.

However his condition is deteriorating over the time.

So I would advise a visit Emergency room or try such self care remedies as I mentioned previously in the meantime.

I hope this answers your question. If you would like to discuss this further or have any additional questions, please reply to my answer and I will get right back to you.
