Viral meningitis is the most common type, but it’s not usually life-threatening.
The enteroviruses that cause meningitis can spread through direct contact with saliva, nasal mucus, or feces. They easily spread through coughing and sneezing. Direct or indirect contact with an infected person increases risk of getting the same virus.
As per your description,my main concern is his lethargy, severe headache, not eating well which require an urgent medical attention.
He needs to be evaluated properly and get prompt treatment.
His vitals should be checked.
It can be possible that it's not viral meningitis.
However his condition is deteriorating over the time.
So I would advise a visit Emergency room or try such self care remedies as I mentioned previously in the meantime.
