My wife is on the Keto Diet which if you are unfamiliar with is high fat no carb or sugar intake. So they sometimes have you ingest higher portions of salt at times to keep your electrolytes in balance. Tonight she had an electrolyte water and added salt to it. Now she has a horrible stomach ache and vomited twice. What should she do? Thanks You thanks you

Thanks for the follow-up.
I understand your concern.

As per your description, you can give her OTC Emetrol and Zantac.

Also she should try small sips of gatorade.

Give her OTC Advil and Gas X.

If her symptoms'll not show any improvement the she needs to discontinue keto diet.

And her blood pressure and blood sugar should be checked as low blood pressure and hypoglycemia can be associated with it.

In case of severe pain, visit ER.

And see her to your family doctor.

She is still vomiting and now diarrhea too. Do you think it could be food poisoning? She took the salt because she didn't feel good, said she felt "flu like". Or could it be something else?
Expert:  Onlinedoc replied 6 months ago.

Sorry for late reply and and inconvenience.

Yes,it sounds gastroenteritis.

She should start OTC Emetrol.

If she is unable to keep liquids down then visit ER and anti-emetic injections can be given and IV fluid to prevent dehydration.

Her blood sugar and blood pressure should be monitored.

Hope this helps.
