Customer Question

My 6 month old has had a cold for the past few days which has given her a runny nose and diarrhea. In addition to the cold, she has been spitting up very chunky puke all day. It's MUCH more than normal and is usually quite a lot each time. She gets a mix of similac supplementation formula, breast milk, and puréed solid foods. She hasn't had any allergies, my diet hasn't changed and she hasn't eaten any new foods. She doesn't have a fever and appears to be in good spirits. Should I be exchanging anything with my diet or her formula? Should I stop giving her solids until this passes? I'm worried with the amount that she is spitting up that she might lose weight.
I'm a US citizen, I live in Japan. I'm in the states visiting my family, so I don't have a doctor to go to.

How is urine output?

How many times did she pass stool?

Her temp is normal, her urine is a bit lower than normal, and she's passed stool 4 times so far today and 6 yesterday, all diarrhea.

Thank you for all the information,
I am sorry for your symptoms.
There can be a gastrointestinal infection or inflammation.
In most cases it is viral.
It usually passes off in 3-5 days.
Sometimes, bacterial or parasitic infection can be there.
I would suggest to take an examination by doctor in Japan if the symptoms continue with vomiting.
A stool test, blood work would help to plan treatment.
Meanwhile, please try to keep good hydration.
Give plenty of fluid, oral rehydration solution or pedialyte.
Urine output should be observed.
In dehydration, it will decrease.
Soft rice based solids can be given.
These are usually better tolerated.
I hope this information helps.
If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.
Wish her early recovery.
Please rate my answer excellent if you are satisfied with it.
Regards.
