Thank you.Ketone in urine does not mean infection but nitrite can be from infection.A culture should be taken to confirm the infection & its sensitivity to antibiotics. Then specific antibiotic can be started.I hope this information helps. If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.Regards.
It would depend on your symptoms, presence of WBC, RBC etc.
Did you have the test in doctor's office?
Though the symptoms are mild or few, I would advise to take an urinalysis from doctor.
Please try to take plenty of fluid.
Are you diabetic?
Did you fast before taking the test?
Ketone can be found in urine during fasting, high protein diet, excess exercise, vomiting, exposure to cold etc..
A small amount may not be significant.
The presence of moderate or significant amount of ketone in the urine can be a sign of diabetes or low insulin level or ketoacidosis.
It is difficult to say without culture.Though amoxicillin is used in UTI but have high resistance level..
Presence of nitrite usually indicates presence of bacteria like Esch coli, proteus not yeast.
It is possible to have both. There can be false positive results in some cases. So, it would be better to have a test in lab.
Trace nitrate is usually not significant.
