I suffer from Venous Reflux in the right lower leg only , but it manifests itself in swelling in my foot / and lower leg --- get outbreaks from the fluid within , or if I scrape the thin outside skin I get a wound ! --- TREATMENT ?
JA: How long have you been dealing with the skin issue? Have you noticed any major changes in your overall skin or nails recently?
Customer: No to the second part , and I had the first episode in 2008 they called it CELLULITUS , BUT I am wondering if the compression is the only answer --- they do treat with collated silver and antibacterial ointment !

Long stasis of blood in veins causes the fluid to leak in the skin & tissues.
This can cause inflammation, redness & swelling.
This causes inflammation & skin changes.
There can be hardening, cobble stone like appearance, darkening of skin.
Blister can form too.
You need to keep the legs up whenever possible.
Avoid long standing or sitting posture.
Elastic or compression stockings can be used.
Antibacterial creams or steroid creams can be prescribed by doctor.
Lotion calamine can be applied.
Lanolin can be applied as well.
Stasis dermatitis is often difficult to treat.
Besides antibiotic, steroid cream, immunomodulator drugs like Pimecrolimus Tacrolimus are also used.
Doppler study can be done to assess the blood flow.
Light therapy, compression, grafting can be needed.
I would suggest to take an examination by a dermatologist.
