I received an injection of Solu-Medrol of 40 mg (1mg)

Customer Question

I received an injection of Solu-Medrol of 40 mg (1mg) Intramuscular into my arm and immediately I felt like my arm was on fire. Within minutes I passed out and was told I lost consciousness. Do you have any idea what went wrong with the injection?
JA: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?
Customer: No medication and not allergic to anything.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: I can't think of anything.... pretty healthy. I just went to my PCP with a rash on my nose for the past 2 weeks and that gave me the steroid shot.

It probably was nothing wrong with the medication

Probably a reaction on your part

What did your doctor say?

Many people will occasionally faint with receiving a shot or having blood drawn ...
It is that pain or being psychologically troubled by these may trigger a vagal response....this causes the pulse to slow down and the blood pressure to drop ...thus the faint ...
This is a fairly common occurence ....
I'm the future if you have a shot or blood draw let your caregivers know that you have fainted in the past ...they should have you lie down for these procedures
I hope that this information is helpful for you
Let me know if you have further questions or concerns
I will be happy to get back with you
