Sore lump on the crown of my head. What could it be?

Customer Question

I just noticed a lump on the crown of my head. It is hard and about the size of a dime. It is really sore to touch. What could it be? I have not had any lumps before now.

As the limp is sore to touch, it can be due to bacterial infection. Folliculitis, infected cyst can be possible. It may need incision and drainage. Warm compression can help. Neosporin ointment can be tried. Pain medicine Motrin can reduce inflammation and pain. If it gets larger, prescription for oral or local potent antibiotic can be needed from your doctor. Then you need to consult doctor for management.
