I had muscle weakness in right leg two days ago and couldn't

Customer Question

I had muscle weakness in right leg two days ago and couldn't stand for about 15 minutes. I went to ER and all tests were negative. At 2:00 am this morning, I tried to get up and walk and again, right leg weak and could barely walk. Any ideas? I did have a stroke that affected right side three years ago but never had this problem.
JA: What seems to make the symptoms worse or better? Have you noticed any swelling?
Customer: No swelling and so far it goes back to normal in time. Once in a while I get back spasms.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: I take Coumadin

Hello

I am a double board certified US doctor and will help you with this.

this can be a transient stroke.

It would not show up on a CT.

You need doppler imaging of the carotid arteries and the heart.

It can also be progressing lower spine disease.

Get a doctor who will test all of this. The lower spine would need an MRI.

If this recurs, go back to the ER and ask for these tests.

Or do that now.
