Since Monday of last week I have had a headache, lower abdominal pain, aching. nausea. When i went to the doctor on Tuesday they said I had Viral Gastroenteritis. I'm curious how long it should last and what I can d. I'm missing school and work. I really can't afford to go back to the doctor. The type of insurance my mom took out was the insurance to get by without pay a penalty but does not cover medical. Please help

Viral gastroenteritis usually passes off in 3-5 days.
Sometimes, it can take a week.
Occasionally, bacterial or parasitic infection can be there.
If the symptoms remain same or gets worse, I would suggest to take an examination by doctor.

You can visit a free clinic.
A stool test, blood work would help to plan treatment.
Meanwhile, please try to keep good hydration.
Take plenty of fluid, oral rehydration solution.

Urine output should be observed.

In dehydration, it will decrease.
Bland soft diet, rice, banana, toast can be taken.
These are usually better tolerated.
