i have been experiencing severe heartburn over the last week or so. i have been taking alka seltzer which calms it down temporarily. But for the last 2 days i have been expiercing mild chest pain and now shortness of breath.
what should i do?

Hello This is Dr. Diego, experienced on Internal medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care.The problem you described is concerning for GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease). Alka seltzer has a NSAID and that can make your symptoms worse. The best for now is to stop alka seltzer and see your PCP. You can take over the counter omeprazole.
