Hello!
Does she have any fever? Has she had any history of headaches similar ? If she had similar history then less likely she would need ER....What had she tried so far for headache ? Is headache steady or throbbing ? One side ? Front / back / while head ? Sinus pain or symptoms? Nausea ?

If headache is so severe that she can't sleep through it then she should be seen today definitely ...urgent care or ER may be options ....

I agree that one week of unusual and unexplained headache needs to have medical evaluation

Scale of pain I use 1/10 barely noticed --- 6/10 unable to sleep through -- 10/10 compared to being set on fire ( worst pain imaginable --- unbearable )
