Customer Question

My two month old baby boy appears to be constipated and uncomfortable. He is eating fine and appears to be happy, but his belly is bloated and hard. He has not had a large poop in about 24 hours, but has had a very small amount of poop every diaper change. He normally has a large poop every three to for hours. Is there something I can do to help him?

Hi,

Generally all babies have gas as they swallow air or through normal breakdown of undigested food.

You can try brown sugar mixture(1 ounce of water and 1 tsp of brown sugar) once a day.

You can give him OTC Simethicone or gripe water to relieve bloating.

If he is feeding fine and not irritable then you can wait and watch.

You can give 3/4 ounce of apple juice.

If he is very fussy and constipated for more than 3 days then see doctor.

Feel free for further queries. It's good to discuss rather than quit.
