I sprained my 2nd toe and believe I severed the tendon

Customer Question

I sprained my 2nd toe and believe I severed the tendon because I no longer have control of the toe. I can't bend or move it unless I do it manually. There is a large lump at the base of the toe that was never there before and that lump really hurts. What should I do?

This is Dr. David

you could have fractured your toe.

you need to see a doctor and get an xray to see if you have a bone fracture.

you might need a splint to help the bone heal straight.

a doctor can give you a medial boot and crutches to help you heal from this trauma.

a podiatrist or a doctor at the ER can look at your toe

do you have a hospital close to you?
