Just curious. I accidentally pricked myself with a little

Customer Question

Hi just curious. I accidentally pricked myself with a little wire coming out of a pen that at a public hospital. One of those pens that everybody uses to fill out forms. I checked carefully and I don't seem to draw any blood and the pen didn't seem to have any either. I am at risk for something?

This is Dr. David

you have a small risk for a bacterial infection

you should wash out the area well with soap and water and put some neosporin on the area.

you are not at risk for HIV or hepatitis.

let me know if you have questions.

Hi there,

This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.

I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

There is no risk at all for any type of infection.

There is no visible blood on the pen or the nib.

And just pricking is not close contact enough to introduce any bacteria in your blood stream.

Hence, do not worry.

Best wishes,

It was my pleasure to help you today.
