Hello,

I am Dr. Arun and will be helping you today.

I am sorry that your question was unanswered for long.

If these symptoms are going for 2-3 days or less; this is likely to be a stomach bug / intestinal infection. A mild pain would indicate a viral infection which is self limiting. If the pain or other symptoms are severe and are going on for more than 3 days; there is a chance of a bacterial infection. In that case, you may need a course of antibiotics like Metrogyl. The initial management is as following;

1) PeptoBismol

2) Lomotil; may only be given if the diarrhea is vigorous.

3) Gatorade / Pedialyte

4) Plenty of fluids

5) BRAT diet; banana, rice, applesauce, toast. Vegetable broths / vegetable soups, coconut water also can help.

6) Probiotics

If the symptoms are going on for more than 7 days; you may need investigations like colonoscopy and stool exam with the blood work.

It is privilege assisting you.
