I was sitting on a couch and I turned to my left side

Customer Question

I was sitting on a couch and I turned to my left side reached up to close a sliding glass window. The window was hard to close but I closed it anyway. Right after that I fell asleep on the couch, when I woke up I had pain in my left arm. Everyday it seems to get worse to where I can't lift it up without pain, it hurts so bad I sometimes have to use my right hand to move my left arm. I can't pick up anything with it. I try rubbing the top of my arm and I just feel pain to were it hurts really bad. I'm having a hard time sleeping because it hurts even when I sleep on my back. I have been taking Aleve but it doesn't seem to work. I have no insurance at this time and in 4 weeks I will be moving. Is there anything I can do to fix this without going to the Doctors? Thanks Randie (Female 56 years old).

Hello,

Do you have neck stiffness?

Swelling,tenderness on shoulder,arm?

Any other medical history?

Do you feel pain at certain positions or continuously?

Since how long have you been suffering from?

Thanks.

Hello,
It’s my first priority to serve you.
Thanks for providing more information.

Well as you describe,it may possible to have some nerve impingement due to poor posture and jerk.

So you should do massage with muscle relaxant ointment and apply warm compresses with a heating pad on affected area.

Also gentle stretching exercises can be helpful.

You should take Motrin 600 mg alternately with Tylenol every 4-6 hourly.

Wear ace bandage.

If pain 'll not improve in a week then consult your doctor or Orthopedist for further evaluation and management.

You should keep your arm straight while sleeping.

Also physical therapy can be helpful.

If you have any further query then we can discuss it thoroughly rather than give us poor/bad service.
