Customer Question

Thank you. I have a small soft lump on my septum. Several months - painless - doesn't bleed if I leave it alone. I am 66 in good health but prone to sinus inflammation all my life.

Hello,
I am Dr. Arun and will be helping you today.
I am sorry that your question was unanswered for long.
A small soft lump is likely to be polyp which may bleed occasionally, as it is vascular. This can form due to allergies as internal lining of the nose get thickened due to chronic irritation and inflammation. An ENT specialist can remove it by cautery as an office procedure under numbing medication (local anesthesia). Other possibility of the diagnosis is an acquired hemangioma. That too would require an excision as the polyp. It too is a benign (non cancerous)growth and can be excised as an office procedure (without hospitalization).
Please feel free for your follow up questions.
I would be happy to assist you further, if you need any more information.
