Hello Ross,
I am Dr. Arun and will be helping you today.
I am sorry that your question was unanswered for long.

The hand has a tendency to get stiff very slightest of the trauma or surgery, especially in your age group. The healing of the bones and tendons may take almost 3-4 months and than extensive physical therapy is required for further 3 months. So a recovery period of 6 months is quite a normal period for most of the individuals. Occasionally it may take more.

Please feel free for your follow up questions.

I would be happy to assist you further, if you need any more information.

Thanks for using Just Answer.
