I am a middle aged man, about 20 lbs overweight with a beer

Customer Question

I am a middle aged man, about 20 lbs overweight with a beer belly. noticed in the past 2 weeks that my belly button is really hard after meals. In the past couple of days I have been coughing a lot. I have to hold my belly down sometimes or I feel like my belly pops or the muscles come out of whack. There is no pain....just scary.

Hello,
Well as you describe, possibly it may be umbilical hernia and you should ruled out it.
Too much abdominal pressure can cause an umbilical hernia.
Coughing is contributing factor.
If you have any soreness, redness, discharge from belly button then it indicates infection.
Antibiotics can be prescribed in such cases.
You should consult your doctor for a clinical examination for further evaluation and management.
Your cough should be treated as well.
Also avoid lifting heavy weight or do any strenuous physical activity which increase pressure on abdomen.
If you have any further query then we can discuss it thoroughly rather than give us poor/bad service.

Thanks.
