Customer Question

Hi - I have a question. My son started a zpack for a sinus infection and did so by accident. It was my husbands I picked up at pharmacy at same time. His dr prescribed 875mg of amoxicillin ... Zpack isn't helping at all.. Feeling worse.. Took for 4 days ... Do I have him stop taking zpack or finish then take amox.. We r on vacation.. So can't go in to see out dr but could find a walk in clinic..

Thank you for your question,
It seems your requested expert is not on line.
I’mCustomerand I’ll try to help you.
Antibiotic can take some time to act.
It can take 2-3 days too to have its maximum effect.
When he is taking it for 4 days without any improvement rather worse, I feel he needs a review by doctor.
The antibiotic may not be working or there can be a complication.
Change of antibiotic would be helpful.
I hope this information helps.
If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.

Will there be any side effects in starting amoxicillin while on zpack. I know it stays in system for a long time..

The interaction between these two antibiotics is minor.
Usually no untoward effect is seen.

So it's ok to be on both antibiotics?
Expert:  Dr. Saha replied 1 year ago.
No need to continue with zpack as its not working.
