Customer Question

I'm on my 4th day of diarrhea. The first day was Thursday and that evening I had a very low grade fever. No fever since but the diarrhea has persisted. It was bright yellow the last two days. Today it's more tan in color. I'm concerned about the bright yellow. And concerned that it's been 4 days. I feel ok other than the diarrhea. A little nauseated at times but no vomiting. I should say that I'm 8 month postpartum (csection)

Hello,
Thank you for your question,
I’mCustomerand I’ll try to help you.
Diarrhea, fever are likely due to an infection.
There can be viral, bacterial or parasitic infection.
Viral infection is commoner.
Viral one usually gets better by 3-5 days.
Sometimes, it can prolong for a week.
As the stool color is returning to normal & you do not feel any other symptom, it is more likely a viral one.
If you do not have further improvement in 1-2 days, I would suggest to take an examination by doctor.
A stool test, blood work can be taken to see for bacterial or parasitic infections.
In those cases, antibiotic will help to clear it.
Please take bland diet, adequate fluid, oral rehydration solution, gatorade to keep good hydration.
Rice, banana & toast can be taken.
I hope this information helps.
If there’s anything else I can do, please let me know.
If you are satisfied, please rate my answer as good or excellent.
Regards.

Well i just had another episode and it is yellowish again. I feel like this is a really long time for diarrhea. Should I be concerned? Does the yellow mean my liver isn't functioning properly?
Expert:  Dr. Saha replied 1 year ago.
It means that the intestinal content is moving rapidly & bile is not properly mixing with it.
It does not necessarily mean liver problem.
Fat or oil may not be digested well.
Please avoid fatty or oily foods if you are taking any.
