My daughter tells me she has 4 clots in her legs she's told

Customer Question

My daughter tells me she has 4 clots in her legs she's told me they want to do surgery to remove them but keep putting surgery off it's been a year and she says they still want to operate. Does this make any sense?

Hi. In general the clots are treated with blood thinners like heparin and Coumadin and in time the body dissolves them. Even if they don't dissolve, surgery really is only indicated when there's extensive swelling of the leg with pain and a circulation problem and that's called phlegmasia cerulea dolens. So basically unless she's having that kind of problem there'd be no indication for surgery. Here's an informative link for you
