I think the original one is a little bigger than it used to be. The second one is right behind the first one, and it is probably twice as big - maybe 1inch by 1-1/2 inches I think they are attached. The first time I noticed the 2nd lump was probably about 2 years ago. It's in the loose skin near my anus. I can touch them, and move them around a little. It doesn't hurt to touch them. The pain is more in the muscles surrounding them.
The pain has been going on for several months - maybe late June, early July. No redness or increased temperature that I can tell.
I'm not sure what is considered the anal margin, it's on the side, about a finger width away from the anus. If you think about sitting on a bicycle, it's the part that would still be on the seat - it's located in the loose area of skin. When I sit and look down, I can see the area extend out about the size a golf ball. The skin is loose around the area though.
I don't think it's due to a swollen hair follicle, as it seems far enough under the surface to be below the follicle roots.
But to confirm, you don't think it's cancerous? But why do the muscles in my glutes only hurt on this side? Could they be related?
The muscles ache pretty much all the time since June/July, sometimes they hurt more than others. It starts below the cyst area and goes up to the lower spine area, and then across the butt towards the hip. It feels kind of deep, so I thought it was the piriformus muscle, so I've been doing a lot of hamstring, and piriformus yoga stretches, and getting massages. It helps a little, but the pain is still there. And it's only on the side with these lumps/cysts. My right side gets tight too, but I don't feel the pain on that side.
