I typically have three or four bowel movements per day. It seems that food takes 8 - 12 hours to move through my body. It really doesn't bother me but I wonder if it is "normal" and if there may be any negative consequences? I am very fit and active for my age.
Hi--are these formed firm stools or more loose? How long has this been going on and have you ever had a colonoscopy?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I would say " formed ", not runny and definitely not hard. I would say at least 10 years, maybe 12. I am vegetarian, almost vegan.

OK Martin. In and of itself there is nothing harmful about that many movements a day so long as there's no problem with weight loss as that might indicate a malabsorption problem like pancreatic insufficiency or celiac disease. If you don't have any problem with gas and cramping then I wouldn't consider irritable bowel syndrome. So, so long as everything else is fine, this isn't worrisome

I actually weigh myself daily and have been within a pound or two for three or four years. I really don't have any issues at all - just wanted reassurance.

You have done that - thank you. At my age you need to take extra care!

My pleasure Martin--don't worry at all about this
