What I the best practice to induce lactation if I have an adopted baby
Hello,
What is the age of adopted baby?
Since how long are you taking Yasmin and Domperidone?
Any results after taking such medications?
Any medical history?
Are you taking any other medications?
Are your periods regular?

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
The age of the baby is 3 days.
Just took Yasmin & Domperidone today.
There is no other medication.
My period is regular.
Hello,
Thanks for providing more information.
Firstly CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming arrival of your bundle of joy!
Domperidone can help you in inducing lactation.
Along with medication, mechanical stimulation helps in lactation.
This consists of breast massage, nipple manipulation, and sucking either by a baby or a hospital grade electric breast pump.
And you should also do regular schedule of breast stimulation whether it be with a pump or massage.
The optimum is every 3-4 hours for a maximum of 30 min.
Once you have at least drops, there are certain herbs like Fenugreek and blessed thistle you can take to increase the flow.
Herbs are really only good once you have at least drops, and not for the actual induction process itself.
Reglan is another medication which helps in inducing lactation so your doctor may also advise it.
Milk production typically begins between 1-4 weeks after initiating mechanical stimulation and 5-13 days with medications.
I suggest you to consult your doctor as well.

I hope this helps.
