I have this gnawing pain in the right side of my chest that sometimes radiates under my right arm. The pain gets worse when I breath in deeply or bend over. I have no other issues, no cough, no cold, no fever etc. Any ideas?

Do you have any medical conditions or take any medication?

Customer:

No I don't have any medical conditions and I don't take any medication.

Dr. Brims :

Is the pain constant?

Customer:

Yes

Customer:

But is not stopping me from doing anything

Dr. Brims :

How bad is this on a scale of 1-10?

Customer:

Probably only 3 but when I in hale deeply or bend its about 6-7

Dr. Brims :

is the pain sharp or dull?

Customer:

Hard to explain, its a dull pain when I am sitting doing nothing but when I bend or inhale deeply it is sharp

Dr. Brims :

I see, this is likely an intercostal muscle strain

Dr. Brims :

The muscle between your ribs

Customer:

Oh thanks I thought is might be something like a muscle strain but I haven't done anything too exerting lately. My only thing I can think of is I have had to pick up my 2 year old a lot as he is not sleeping well.

Customer:

Thanks anyway, if it is still an issue next week I will go to my doctor!
