Hello Margaret,

Thank you for your question,

I’m Dr. Saha and I’ll try to help you.

Celebrex is not a steroid.

It is non steroidal antiinflammatory pain medicine.

It is usually well tolerated.

Fluid retention may occur but not always.

It is noticed in a small percentage only.

It is usually not associated with weight gain.

Rarely it may occur.

I hope this information helps.

I will be happy to assist, if you need any clarification.

Please feel free for any follow up query.

ok thank you. u were quite helpful my two main concerns were weight gain and you said no and water retention or bloating and you said no. so i guess it should be helpful to take. how long does it take to take effect if it is helping and also does interact with synthroid i take it for hypothroidism ? please advise

You are always welcome.

The pain relief can start after a few hours of taking the medicine.

For maximum relief it may take a few days to weeks.

There has been no reported interaction with Synthroid.
